Area Information

Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce -- The Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce is made up of business owners, operators, and community residents in Apalachicola, St. George Island, and Eastpoint. Their mission is to promote a successful business environment for members while balancing the need to support the preservation of the unique culture, history and natural resources of the area.

Franklin County Tourist Development Council -- The mission of the TDC is to promote Franklin County, Florida as a tourist destination through natural, historical, and cultural resources.  The TDC website offers information on Apalachicola, Eastpoint, St. George Island, Alligator Point, Carrabelle, Dog Island, Lanark, and St. James.

Lighthouses

The Florida Lighthouse Association -- The Florida Lighthouse Association is a nonprofit group of citizen activists dedicated to the preservation of the 30 remaining historic lighthouses that line our state's 1200 mile coastline.

 


The Crooked River Lighthouse, operated by the Carrabelle Lighthouse Association, is located in Carrabelle, Florida.  The restored lighthouse and replica Keeper's House Museum share a wooded park with the "Carrabella," a pirate ship playground for children. 

 

 

 

The Alabama Lighthouse Association in Mobile, Alabama is dedicated to the preservation of Alabama's lighthouses, including the Middle Bay Lighthouse, the Sand Island Lighthouse, and the Mobile Point Lighthouse.

 

The Lighthouse Hunters -- The site of Lighthouse Hunters Christine & Tom Cardaci includes information and photographs from lighthouses in the U.S. and Canada, as well as links to many other lighthouse-related organizations.

Local Media

Apalachicola & Carrabelle Times -- The Times is a weekly newspaper covering all of the Forgotten Coast.  It is published on Thursdays.

Lodging

The Gibson Inn -- The Gibson Inn is a small hotel in Apalachicola and is listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. It was carefully restored to its Victorian splendor in 1985.

Museums

Apalachicola Maritime Museum -- The museum was founded to celebrate and preserve the maritime history of Apalachicola in a hands-on learning environment with active sailing program and adventure programs, boat-building, restoration and educational programs.
