Back Stair Rail Installed

Volunteers completed the installation of the back stair railing on the Keeper's House. Jim Kemp, Fred Stanley, John Olander, and Bob Gill helped get the job done on a Volunteer Work Day. Also participating in the Work Day were Dennis Barnell, Mason Bean, Vito Bell, Doug Brandt, Don Grinenko, Terry Kemp, and Marty Ray.

Interior Lumber Delivered

Interior Lumber Delivered

Tongue-and-groove- pine boards to be used for the floor and walls were delivered on May 14. We have 3500 linear feet of lumber for the floors, and 20,200 linear feet for the wall paneling. The lumber will "climatize" in the house for several weeks before installation.

The engraved granite marker for the Lighthouse Keeper's House Museum sits in a brick base to the left of the stairs leading to the front door of the Keeper's House.

Keeper's House Marker Being Created

Kenny and Shirley Horah of Southern Sand Designs in Dawsonville, Georgia, remove the stencil from the marker. Kenny sandblasted the inscription into a piece of granite recovered from the 1852 lighthouse.

Masons Begin Brick Work on Keeper's House

Brick masons with Shawn Oxendine from Carrabelle began brick work on the Keeper's House. The pilings required to meet current building codes will be covered by three brick arches.
