Second SGI Tour of Homes a Huge Success!
The second Tour of Homes on St. George Island, held on Saturday, February 9, 2013, attracted 500 participants and raised $8,000 for the St. George Lighthouse Association. Funds will be used for the maintenance and enhancement of the Lighthouse, Keeper's House, and Lighthouse Park.
The 2013 Tour featured one home on the island’s East End, four homes in the first-platted area of Gulf Beaches, and three homes in the gated community St. George Plantation. Also open for Tour participants was the Lighthouse and the Lighthouse Keeper’s House at the center of the island, and the St. George Plantation Clubhouse.
The Tour kicked-off with an Opening Event on Friday evening, February 8, at the Jay Abbott Fire House. Erik Lovestrand of the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve delighted the capacity crowd with a presentation on the ecology of Apalachicola Bay.
The St. George Lighthouse Association thanks all who attended the Tour, and gives special recognition to the more than 100 volunteers who worked as docents at the homes, drove Plantation shuttles, and otherwise helped to make the event a success. We hope to see you at next year's St. George Island Tour of Homes! In the meantime, please patronize our sponsors who are listed on this site. They help provide the funding that makes the Tour of Homes possible.
