Roofers completed the roof on the Keeper's House this week, and it looks great! Although the shingles are asphalt, they are a special triple-laminate design made to look like shake shingles. Shakes, which were on the roofs of both keeper's dwellings originally, are no longer practical or cost-effective in this environment.

Cedar shake look-alike shingles adorn the roof of the Keeper's House.

Meanwhile, masonry work continues on the west side of the house and should be completed next week. This includes exterior brick work as well as the interior fireplaces.

Volunteers Susan McClendon, John Olander, Fred Stanley, Jim Dunkin, and Jim and Terry Kemp put in several hours of staining and varnishing the interior window trim. Electrical rough-in is completed, and plumbing is underway.

As always, thanks to everyone for their support of this project!
