April 10, 2010

| Work on the Keeper's House porch began this week. |
Contractors completed the addition of the Keepers House porch roof, which now awaits roof shingles. Volunteers began the addition of pickets to the porch railing, completing the east side on Saturday, April 10.
Meanwhile, several palms have been added at the corners of the house, and sod has been installed on the lawn. More landscape plants are to be added in the next day or two. The last of the brick Pathways to the Light are almost completed to finish out the system of walkways in Lighthouse Park. While all the activity? The $175,000 DEP grant which has funded development of St. George Lighthouse Park expires at the end of April, so SGLA is scurrying to meet the County deadline of April 15 for submission of all invoices for reimbursement.
The timing could not be better -- the park will look beautiful for the Forgotten Coast Lighthouse Challenge, which is just around the corner on April 24 and 25!
