TEMPTATION ISLAND – West Gulf Beaches
The exterior’s clean lines and two-tone gray presage the owners’ style, but so do the huge, sliding, metal barn doors: they’re surprising. Inside, neutral tones on walls and ceilings (peaked beadboard in the living room) create backdrops for bold bursts of turquoise, orange, and geometric patterns. A love of metal in accent furnishings combines with wood-love, keeping the house warm. But look closely: wood floors and shower walls are tile. The kitchen is white-gray-stainless-modern, yet in a bedroom an old-fashioned standing fan hangs overhead. Pure beach are rattan furniture, a shell-painted dresser, and ocean art. Under the house find even more delights: a fabulous grill with wet bar and saddle stools, bed swing, teak dining table, hot tub and—the last surprise—a hidden king bedroom and bath. This house is absolutely individual.
